Review Desired Damned by KevaD

I write every day but I also read a great deal of books, this month I've read Inheritance, Temptation's Kiss by Sandra Brown, Dancing on Flames by J.S Wayne, and Desire Damned by KevaD.
Rarely, I write short reviews.  On my blog you will find two  reviews I wrote this week !!! Did Desire Damned and Dancing on Flames impress me?  Hell Yeah !

 Review: Desire Damned by KevaD

5 Stars.
Blurb:
Satan wants the warrior Taka to bow before him. But Taka bows to no one except his gentle lover Har.
For thousands of years the two men have been doomed to a life of torment.
While one walks the earth, the other suffers under the devil's lash. Their only respite is an occasional night; a random, beautiful, love-filled night, knowing that with the dawn one of them must die in battle and return to Satan's wrath.
On the war-torn fields of Gettysburg, the two lovers are reunited once again. But this time something beyond Hell's reach has happened. Something so wondrous, Satan may finally get his wish.

Review: Once again, KevaD immerses the reader into his world. Amongst the tragic plight of Taka and his devotion to his mate, Har, KevaD weaves a multifaceted story.

The scenes describing the conditions during the battle of Gettysburg brought an impressive realism to the story, highlighting one small part of the constant hell Taka has lived through for centuries.

Taka, a warrior with surprising compassion, demonstrates how love transcends time. His all consuming love and self-sacrifice for Har is delightful.  In fact, the characters bounced off the page for me so vividly I could almost smell them. The warriors' hunger of long, denied love sizzles through the beautifully paced sex scenes.
This is a romance I will read many times.

I am looking forward to KevaD's next release.

Today is the final day in the Noble Romance Authors' Timeless Desire Tour. The major prize winners will be announced on Saturday. I would like to thank our sponsors Noble Romance Publishing and SexToys.co.uk. I hope you have all enjoyed getting to know the authors on this tour.

Thank you all for dropping by and giving us your support.

Today Bryl R Tyne is my guest. Bryl is my editor with Noble Romance and the editor of the Timeless Desire Collection. He has worked  tirelessly to  bring this collection of novellas together in a short time. Bryl has brought his unique voice to the collection with his novella,  Immortal.

Great to have you here today Bryl. Tell my readers a little about yourself. Then we'll get down to some questions. :-)

BRYL R. TYNE is a wrangler by nature and a writer by choice. Balancing as many pronouns as hats, somewhere between the evil day job, editing, and helping a benevolent Sugar Daddy raise the last of seven kids, Bryl writes. Homoerotic romance is a favorite, but many of Bryl’s stories cross genres. Comedy, Fantasy, Mystery, Sci-fi, even Westerns, Bryl writes them all.

Q. What did you do when you received your first book contract?
A. If I recall correctly, I let out a huge, OMG! to which the entire family came running to make sure I was okay.

Q. What are your favorite movies?
A. Kung Fu Panda, They Call Me Trinity, Fast Five, Mulan, Beautiful Mind, Master and Commander, Dune, just to name a few

Q. What do you want your readers to take away from your books?
A. That even misfits deserve love and that there's someone out there for everyone.

Q. What qualities do you instill in your hero?
A. Brokenness, a nefarious past, and a buttload of baggage that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. How are those qualities, you ask? Because if one hasn't waded through the shit, they're never going to appreciate the roses.
H.C. Oh yeah.

Q: What makes you happy?
A: Smiles on children. Puppies. And the appreciation of raunchy humor (openmindedness).

H.C. The world would be a better place if everyone had a small dose of openmindedness.

Q. What are your current projects?
A. I'm currently working on a Horror collection called ANGUISH for Riptide Publishing and also a Lesbian vs Zombie erotica for Noble Romance.
H.C. Wow! Can't wait to read those stories.

Q. Can you tell us a little about your latest release?
Blurb: Found abandoned as a child and taken in by the Nevsky clan, the man Ivis now feels the call of the water, the sea, but Sefton and his family, one of the most influential vampire bloodlines in Russia, isn't about to let Ivis go. As Ivis's powers grow stronger—powers unknown to him—Sefton's instructed to detain Ivis at all costs to tilt in his clan's favor the balance of power in an endless struggle between the Bogdanov water gods and Nevsky vampires. Sefton's left with a choice: power or love. Which is the greater desire?

Review Dancing on Flames by J.S. Wayne

5 Star Review- Dancing on Flames by J.S. Wayne

Blurb
In the aftermath of a raid on a band of child slavers, Russell and Ion of the Chosen of Fenrir find themselves baring their hearts and souls—and their bodies—to one another.
In doing so, they violate one of their clan's most sacred laws: Look not to your own kind for love.
Now, one will lay his life on the line on the Path of the Flame Dance, where the Earth Mother will judge whether the love they have is worthy—or a betrayal of their own blood. The other must watch as his lover walks the fire, or perishes in the attempt.
Stand or fall, the two warriors will never be the same . . . .

 H.C ' s  Review:

I have awaited this author's first M/M story with anticipation and couldn't wait to buy Dancing on Flames on release. The story of Russell and Ion's discovery of their love blossoms out of a mission to save children from slavers. J.S. Wayne creates characters with flare and the wolf shifters do not disappoint. His writing breathes life into the massive, wolf shifters, showing them to be men of integrity, strength and compassion. The hesitant discovery of their attraction and the way J.S. Wayne crafted the spellbinding outcome of their love brought tears to my eyes. Beautiful.

I will look forward to the next book in this series.

Two Reviews for Betrothed to the Enemy H.C. Brown

Betrothed to the Enemy by HC Brown

Review:
Betrothed by the Enemy was a combination I love and feel is never often explored in books today.
Based around the Saxon/ Norman conquer in England (1070) with elements of steamy romance
 and a fight.

Forced to succumb to her new Norman King, Saxon lady Angela of Parr becomes in a way an
advocate for all the women of youth and the ability to produce an heir to force them into
 marriage with his knights.

I thought the concept would be a little predictable but taking it further back in history meant it
really worked within the context of the story, every turn made each part of the short story enjoyable.

I loved how the author played on the emotions within this short novella by making the heroine jealous
at certain points as I believe it added to the believability of the love story.

I would recommend this read for anyone looking for a quick, enjoyable read which will leave a smile
 when you put it down.

Blurb: After her father’s death at the Battle of Hastings, Lady Angela of Parr is defenseless. Dragged from her estate and taken to London, she finds herself at the mercy of a ruthless Norman king.

William, the new king of England, plans to repay his loyal knights by offering them marriage to the landed Saxon ladies. Angela has no love for the Normans, but when she meets Sir Damien de Anesi she is instantly smitten and puts her reputation in jeopardy by secretly meeting with the handsome young Norman knight.

Their love blossoms until King William betroths Angela to a depraved old man and Sir Damien is forced to choose between his loyalty to his liege and his love for Lady Angela.

Review: Ms. Brown does an amazing job of capturing the reader and drawing her into the story. The characters are well-developed as is the plot. Little details enrich the story and lend authenticity to the setting. The love scenes are nicely done. Who knew knights and maidens could be so creative and naughty?

My favorite aspect of the story were the conflicts. First, Lady Angela was forced to deal with a new king who was not only responsible for the death of her father, but was also threatening to take her lands. Then there’s the conflict that arises when she finds herself attracted to a Norman. And, or course, there’s the jealousy and insecurity that go hand-in-hand with new love. Throw in the huge obstacle of a forced betrothal to a depraved old man, and you’ve got a winner!

So, why not a 10? Well, I wanted more, a little more description and a little more conflict in certain places.

Can’t wait to read more offerings from Ms. Brown!

Timeless Desire Blog Tour- Brita Addams

I am very pleased to welcome Brita Addams on this leg of the Timeless Desre Tour.

Tell my readers a little about yourself.

Brita Addams was born in Upstate New York, but migrated to the sultry south and has made her home there for many years. She writes, for the most part, erotic historical romance, though she's wandered into the realm of m/m contemporary erotic romance.
Her love of history is on of the constants in her life, so historical romance was made for her.
Brita incorporates the use of archaic English, or as close as she can come, in her historical romance, which reviewers have said adds the flavor of the period to her stories.
Writing contemporary allows her to incorporate elements of pop culture and today's language in her stories, as well as throw in a bit of humor.
Brita's home is a happy place, where she laughs with her real-life hero, her husband; her daughter; a puppy named Fiona, who is Brita's muse, and a fat cat named Stormee. Without her family, Brita wouldn't be able to do what she does. "It's great having your biggest fans living with you."

Q. What did you do when you received your first book contract?
A; It was in April of 2010 for Serenity's Dream, the first in my Sapphire Club series. That was from Noble Romance.
Q: If you could start your life over what would you change?

A: I'd want to meet my husband about ten years earlier than I did. We both feel we were cheated, so, yeah, I'd want to fix that. Other than that, absolutely nothing. I'm a firm believer in things happening for a reason, except there is no reason on God's green earth that I couldn't have met my husband earlier in my life!

Q. What qualities do you instill in your hero?
A. My heroes are strong, compassionate and determined. They are also usually broken in some way, having lost something or someone significant.

Q: What makes you happy?
A: My family. Spending time with them keeps my grounded, reminds me why I do what I do and never fails to show me that no matter what else we do in life, ultimately, family is all that really matters.
When I die, no one will be talking about Brita Addams and her novels. It will be all about me being a Mom, a Grammie and my husband's Princess (Yes, he calls me Princess).
My family makes me happy in ways that I can't even describe.

Q. Book pirating is a big issue at the moment. Can you tell our readers how this impacts on you and other authors?
A. That's very easy. We spend months writing – others spend their lives at a job, well writing, for many of us, is our job. We are hedging our lives on the fact that when we're finished, someone will buy our book.
Hallelujah, the day comes when a publisher "buys" our book. Misnomer, as it isn't actually bought, it's contracted. Money is made contingent on SALES.
We go through editing, production and then we have release day – a great day, when our book is finally available to the reading public.
*Needle screeches across the old LP* You find your book on a pirate site, and it has been ILLEGALLY downloaded 1500 times. On some of my books, that's a loss of right at $3,000, stolen by unscrupulous people. THEFT, plain and simple. I own the copyright, as do all authors, not the people who upload copies of the books to the torrent sites.
Boil it down – they've walked into my home and taken food off my family's plates.

Q. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
A. I'm very happy live where and with whom I live with right now.

Q. What are your current projects?
A. I'm working on several projects at the moment, but nothing will be ready before next year. One is a m/m historical novel and I have another installment of my Romeo Club series.

I have four releases between October, 2011 and December, 2011, though, two for Noble Romance and two for Riptide Publishing.

Q. Can you tell us a little about your latest release?

A Minute After Midnight is the story of two men, Logan and Reid, who, under circumstances beyond their control, find themselves separated for many years. Each goes about their lives, takes other partners and kind of sleepwalks through the intervening years.
A high school reunion finds them in the same place. But do they still face the same problems that separated them all those years ago, at a minute after midnight?

An Evening at the Starlight isn't like anything I've ever written. It's the story of Royal and Doe and is told as a way to show a much younger man the error of his ways. The Timeless Desire theme played into a story I've been mulling over in my head for a long time. I've always wanted to write something taken loosely from a love story in my own family tree—that of my great Uncle Roy and his wife, Dorothy. Their story is the epitome of holding onto the things that are great in your life, as you never know when it will all be taken away.
Starlight is very sentimental and one of the best things I've ever written, I think. I feel very attached to the story and the characters.
And then I have the first installment in my Romeo Club series, Surprises. Folks can learn all about that on my website: www.britaaddams.com

Q. Where can we find you on the net?
A. It feels as though I'm everywhere. LOL

Timeless Desire Blog Tour- J.S. Wayne

Today I welcome the irrepressible J.S Wayne. His stories have and continue to thrill the reader in me.

Okay J.S, down to business. Now I want the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth. LOL

Q. What did you do when you received your first book contract?
A. The day I landed my first contract was a huge one for me. I was right in the middle of my work week at my hellishly evil day job, but the next night off my wife and I had together, we went out to dinner to celebrate! Over dinner, I told her, “You realize that this is going to be the next sixty years or so now, right?”
She said, “I’m very proud of you, Mr. Wayne. Give ‘em hell!”
And so I did!

Q: If you could start your life over what would you change?

A: You know, I honestly don’t think I’d change a thing. There are parts of my life that have been painful, and times when I went to bed at night praying I wouldn’t wake up. I’ve had my triumphs and God knows I’ve had my down times. But everything I’ve done, everywhere I’ve been, and everyone I’ve ever known, has shaped the man I am today. I don’t regret who I am, so looking back, how can I regret where I’ve been?

Q. Do you ever suffer from writer's block? How do you cope?
A. I believe you and I have talked about this before, but I don’t believe in writers’ block. For a long time, and I’m borrowing shamelessly from Mercedes Lackey here, I’ve considered that to be a cop-out, another way of saying “I don’t want to do the damn work” without actually saying “I don’t want to do the damn work!” I will, however, admit to occasionally getting stuck on a WIP. When that happens, I either do more research, or I switch gears and go on to the next project until I feel confident that I can move on with the current one. Either way, if I don’t write, I don’t get paid, so I don’t have time to nurse neuroses. The phrase “publish or perish” applies here just as much, if not moreso, than anywhere else! And if you’re not writing, guess what else you’re not doing?

HC. Oh yeah, I find excuses not to write too but then my Muse does have a flogger J

Q: You have three wishes….what will you wish for?
A: *Laughs* Ah, man. There are so many things I can think of. But, in order of importance:
1)    To have exactly enough money for any purchase or bill I or my family will ever have.
2)    To be Supreme Dictator of the world. Will all pale redheads over the age of eighteen please report to my palace, remove your clothes, and await further instructions!? (My wife’s going to kill me for that one.)
3)    As long as I’m wishing, a 21-year-old bottle of Chivas Regal…that’s NEVER empty!

HC. Waves magic wand.( Well it's worth a try.)

Q. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
I’m right here. Las Vegas, Nevada; as much as I miss Texas, I’m really a 24-hour kind of guy, and there’s just nowhere else that I know of where that kind of lifestyle is not only sustainable, but encouraged.

HC I'd end up living at a casino. I can hear those slots ringing now LOL.

Q. What are your current projects?
A. Right now, I’m waiting for my next release, “Dancing On Flames,” which is scheduled to release on November 28th from Noble Romance Publishing. I’m also knee deep in NaNoWriMo, trying to write 100,000 words and finish two WIPs by the end of the month.
The WIPs I’m working on right now are Angel of Death and The Hollow, the end of the “Angels” series and a paranormal erotic horror story starring the Headless Horseman! Once that’s done, I’ve got a whole backlog of stories in various stages of completion that need some TLC! J

H.C. I've seen a little of "Dancing On Flames" and WOW J.S. this is going to be a favorite of mine.

Q. Can you tell us a little about your latest release?

Blurb:
More than two decades have passed since the Hodans invaded the peaceful kingdom of Jurav. In their zeal for conquest, they have mercilessly rent the Juravian national character asunder, starting with the temples of their gods.
Varath's uncle raised him to one day assume his father's mantle—command warden of the Temple of Noradi, the most beloved goddess of the Juravian pantheon and the deity of heart, hearth, and the fires which burn in both.
Melody would have been High Priestess to Noradi, and her own family has groomed her with equal care against the day when the Hodan hordes will be expelled and she can assume her rightful place as the most powerful figure in the entire nation . . . and as Varath's bride.
When Varath departed to serve in the Hodan army, Melody saw it as an unconscionable betrayal. Now Varath has returned to take his father's place as the sole guardian of a temple where no one dares enter, and he has made overtures to claim the other half of his bequest: Melody herself. But can Melody see past the deceptions and lies his rebellion has forced and learn to love the man who seems to have turned his back on his own people?
Excerpt
He had been outside, nursing a cup of mead and thoughts of treason when she brushed his shoulder cautiously. Starting, he turned to find her studying him gravely.
"So you'll be a whore for the Hodans." There was no bitterness in her words, only resignation.
He glanced around to see who else might be watching. Fortunately, the area was deserted; the immaculately groomed lawn allowed no place for a spy to linger without notice.
"Is that truly what you think?"
"Is there anything else I can think?"
He sighed. "Melody, you're beautiful, but you haven't yet learned things aren't always what they seem. Don't be so quick to judge what you can't understand."
"Then make me understand." She raised one hand to flick at her hair, a gesture Varath read as uncertainty. "Had our lives been only a little different, we would be wed by now, and yet you're riding off to war with the same bastards who brought Jurav to heel." She gave one sharp nod. "You have forgotten your father, your people, and the traditions of your land. You're a sellsword, a mercenary, nothing more. Jorla taught you too well, but you know perfectly well you can never use what he taught you here."
Varath grimaced and tossed back a rather longer swallow of his mead than was wise. He coughed and choked on the biting, sweet liquid for a long moment before he regained his breath. Once he felt confident he could speak again, he croaked, "Speak to Jorla after I leave. Tell him I asked him to explain what's really going on. But Melody, you must believe me when I say all here is not what it seems."
Melody frowned. "I remember the first time I ever saw you. I was in the market, buying cloth for my High Feast dress."
Varath smiled wryly at the memory. "I was buying meat. I didn't realize you had seen me, though."
She leaned in close. "I'd hoped you would ask me to attend the feast as your intended."
He stammered, "I-I wanted to, Melody. Jorla told me it was simply too dangerous. The Hodans monitor everyone in this village so carefully, lest any of us fall back into our pagan ways."
She flinched a little. "Do you think me a spy for the Hodans?"
"Do you dare chance I'm not?" He parried.
Melody paled visibly, swaying alarmingly on her feet. "Wh-why would you say such a thing?"
"To remind you to be on your guard. We can't be any more certain of each other than we can most of the village."
Her eyes grew wider, and Varath had to clench his fists tightly at his side to repress the urge to put his arms around her and reassure her, no matter the cost.
She stood there for a moment, moisture glinting in the starlight lending her eyes a mysterious silvery sheen. "Do you honestly think my blood would betray our birthright?" Her voice was a low, furious hiss like the sound the deadly, black snakes haunting the lowlands made just before they struck. "If you honestly believe so, then you should be nowhere near this place, because you really are not one of us any longer."

Q. Is there anything else you would like to say to our readers?
A. Keep reading, folks. Whatever you like, whatever your genre of choice, without writers, you’ve got nothing new to read. But without readers, what’s the point in writing?
I hope to see you all around, and feel free to shoot me an email or a blog comment. I LOVE hearing from my readers!

TIME TO LIVE BY H.C. BROWN

This is a book about discovery and finding the courage to live the way you want and need to. Not just that of sexual orientation, but the D/s lifestyle and a partner at the same time, at least for Seth. Matt is a little better off, in that he already knows he’s gay and a Dominant, but being attracted to a man as more than a short-term interest is new to him, and definitely shocking.

Seth doesn’t have it easy in this story, but then, he doesn’t make it easy for himself either. After the latest disaster with a woman he finally admits he ‘may be gay’ and knows he is attracted to BDSM. So what does he do? Visit a BDSM club and jump in at the deep end, so to speak. Luckily, the owner is there to catch him, but Seth has to do the landing by himself. It’s a good thing he knows exactly what he likes, or he might back off.

Matt is a bit overbearing, but leaves Seth enough space not to feel overwhelmed. Not enough to back away (since he’s already decided he wants him on a more permanent basis), but enough so Seth doesn’t feel more crowded than he wants to feel. Their reactions to a simple misunderstanding are equally immature, which is lucky in a way, since neither man can blame the other.

If you like D/s stories where the focus is on one partner discovering himself and admitting what he likes, if a slightly overbearing Dom doesn’t worry you and if you like hot sex scenes, you will probably enjoy this book.
